This year I am doing a journal challenge leading up to Thanksgiving and I figured I would invite you all to take this journey with me. We are going to get deep and reflect on this past year. I know you are thinking 2020 was a hot mess, and yes, I totally agree but even in the midst of this chaotic year I know that you have learned something that you need to take with you into the years to come. I want to focus on what went well this year and what we need to change to better next year.

The way the challenge will work is I will send out a daily email with the prompt for that day. You will then Journal on that prompt you can decide if you want to write it out in an actual journal or use your notes app. The great news is that I am doing a HUGE giveaway for this journal challenge! This has been a great year for me, and I want to give back to everyone who has supported me. The first ten people who sign up to do the journal challenge with me will get a free journal mailed to you. 2020 Skin Care Favorites

Hey, #Breesquad!!! I hope you have had a great week. Today we are going to talk about something a little different! Skin Care. That’s Right! I am going to give you the rundown of the things that I use to keep my skin smooth and glowing. So, if you are looking to ramp up your skincare game then keep reading…. I will add links to the products that I use within the blog, some of these links will be affiliate links so clicking on them does support my channel. Lastly, don’t forget to subscribe to my blog. I have planned a Huge Giveaway next month and you have to be subscribed to enter.

Face

My face skincare routine has really gotten better since quarantine. I used to just use a face wash, throw on any old moisturizer, and run out the door. Most times I would just wash my face and go which is a huge No-No. I have never really had acne-prone skin. I will break out here and again but it’s usually when my cycle is about to start or if I am super stressed out. I think that is it also important for you all to know that I have oily to combination skin.

Face Cleansers

I use two cleansers on my face. I determine what cleanser I need by what I have done that day. If it’s a day where I am just in the house not doing anything, ( basically my life for 2020) I will only use my Cerave Foaming Cleanser. This cleanser was my staple back in high school when I was dealing with ance. As I got older and stop having as many breakouts I started using other stuff to clean my face. I went back to Cereve because this is the only product that makes me feel like my face is cleaner as when I am using other drug store brands. Cerave is dermatology recommended as well.

The other cleanser I have been using over the last month or so is Fenty Skin. Anything that Rihanna has been making recently has been bomb. I mean she can just take all my money at this point. I use Fenty Skin to remove makeup before going in with my Cerave cleanser I also use the Fat Water Toner daily. I love the way that the toner makes my skin feel after cleansing.

Toners

Now Speaking of toners let’s talk about some of my favorites thus far. Right now, of course, I am using the Fenty Skin Fat Water toner, but I also love the toner from Lush. The Tea Tree Water toner makes my face feel amazing I use it after cleansing and before applying my moisturizer both day and night. Another great toner that I prefer to use is the Thayers Which hazel toner. This is the toner I have been using for years. I didn’t really know of any other toners to use.

Moisturizers

Lastly for my face we have moisturizers. I have been loving the fenty skin moiturser. I love that it has SPF and it doesn’t make my face look all greasy. The other moisturizer that I have been using is Murad Skin Perfecting Lotion. I have this one and the Environmental Shield Essential C I actually stumbled across these from my IPSY subscription.

Ipsy

IPSY is a subscription box that sends you makeup and skincare each month. They have 3 tiers. One is 12.00 once is 25.00 and the 3rd is 50.00. If it wasn’t for IPSY I would not even know about this Murad moisturizer or most of the eye shadow pallets that I own. I personally have the 2nd tier and they sent me 5 full-size products each month. If you are looking to build your makeup or skincare collection then click here to join.

Body

My shower routine had been the same for I don’t know how long. I use Dove and Dr. Bronner’s. The Dove that I am loving right now is the Shea Butter and Vanilla. I love warm scents like vanilla, and shea butter so I just gravitated to those scents but they have a lot of scents that are amazing. Dr. Bronner’s is the best for everything I mainly use the Peppermint scent and the Lavender scent as well. Dr. Bonners has a lot of uses and wonderful scents to choose from. Do you all use Dr. Bronner’s? What are some ways you use it? Let me know in the comments below.

Exfoliate

I also exfoliate using Tree Hut. I don’t really have a favorite scent I love them all. Right now I am using the Tahitian Vanilla (yes, Vanilla is my go-to) Another Exfoliate that I am loving right now is Formula 10.0.6

For my body my I usually moisturize with whipped shea butter or I use Hempz Sweet Pineapple and Honey Melon Lotion. I love the smell and I love how it absorbs in my skin. In the colder months, I use Shea butter or Cocoa Butter. My dad loved some cocoa butter, that is basically all that was in my house growing up, and like they say… “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”

So there you have it. A list of my skincare favorites for 2020. I mean with COVID-19 still being off the chain I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Wash your hands. Wear your masks, please! I love you all thank you for your continued support. Make sure you follow me on all social media and subscribe to my blog!!

A Curly Girls Guide to Healthy Hair – #NoHeatChallenge

Hey #curlfriends!!! Hope you are staying safe and healthy during this time. Today we are going to talk about some updates with my hair… I haven’t done one in over a year so I’m sure that you all are curious. So last year we talked about how I was going to try to keep up with this no heat challenge. I ended up giving in after about 8 months. I actually ended up straightening my hair twice which really isn’t bad. This is me encouraging myself. I straightened my hair in April because I got bored with my hair and my boyfriend had never seen my hair straight in person. (Yes Boyfriend!! I’ll update you on my life later) The second and last time I straightened my hair was in June for my best friend’s wedding. I really could have left it curly but when you are the Maid of Honor, the last thing you want to be worrying is doing hair.

Fast forward to September 2020 I am about to tell you how I have gone 15 months without my using my flat iron. Before I do that make sure you subscribe to my blog so that you don’t miss a moment of the action. I have a lot of things planned between now going into next year so trust me. You are going to want to subscribe!!

So previously I told you that I was in my best friend’s wedding. That was the last time I straightened my hair and it was a whole process. Any time you do want to straighten your hair you want to make sure you cleanse your hair thoroughly and make sure that your deep condition and use a heat protectant and protect your hair. So I had to wash, deep condition, blowdry, then flat iron my hair which took a couple a few hours. My hair is a lot thicker than it appears. Below are pictures of my hair in different stages.

No heat in a Pandemic

One way that I was able to keep up with not straightening my hair was the pandemic. There simply was no reason to put heat on my hair when I’m going to be in the house. There were times I wanted to because I want to experiment with different styles and stuff but I became a lazy natural during quarantine. Which in the end I think that really helped my hair.

Low manipulation styling

As I have said in my previous posts. The best way to grow your hair is low manipulation. With me keep my hair in coils and braids, it not only stopped me from wanting to straighten my hair but it also helped my hair to grow. My hair has been the longest it has ever been. Even time I stretch my hair I can see a noticeable difference. So my advice to you is protective styling and another low manipulation styling.

No Heat = No Heat Damage

The best thing about not putting heat on my hair is not worrying or stressing about my hair getting damaged. You know as a natural, every time you put heat on your hair you worry about if your curls are going to recover or not. I have really enjoyed seeing my curls flourish this last year. The shrinkage is real but I know that my hair is really healthy.

What are your hair goals?

Now that I have finally made it more than a year without straightening my hair, I really don’t want to do it. I am actually enjoying my curls. I am enjoying trying out different products and combinations. If I end up wanting straight hair for a look or something I am going to play with some wigs. My sister is learning how to make wigs so that’s a plus for me.

What hair goals are you looking to achieve? Let me know down in the comments.

Make sure you are following me on all my social media platforms I have alot of things happening before the end of the year and I don’t want your to miss out. Love yall <3

September Goals

Hey y’all… I’m back. 2020 has been a crazy year so far… I made all these goals in the beginning of the year, then Coronavirus came in and wrecked the whole world. I never though in all my days that we would be witnessing a pandemic. And don’t get me started on how much I hate wearing a mask…. yes I know how important it is but it’s too hot under there…. my heart really goes out to the people on the frontline and any who has to wear a mask for an extended period of time…. any who this post is going to be my goals for the rest of the year… I hope this inspires you all to finish 2020 strong.

The first goal I have for the end of the year is to be more consistent on here as well as social media … I will be the first to tell you I struggle with consistency…. I will make whole list of things I need to do…. do 2 things off the list and then take a nap. Part of the reason for that is my depression sucking the life out of me… I have days where I have absolutely no motivation at all. The other part is that I can’t tell you the last time I wore actual clothes… if you wanna see some pictures in sweatpants and over sizes T-shirt’s I’m your girl… I haven’t worn make up since February. I just don’t feel photogenic these days but I need to get myself out there.

My second goal for this month is to get back in to my hair routine… I have taken lazy natural to a whole new level this year… don’t get me wrong my hair is retaining length. Lola is thriving but I have not been treating her the best… I went from doing my hair weekly to washing my hair every 2 to 3 weeks and keeping it in a bun. I mean in some ways it helps because I am not manipulating my hair as much but I need to do better. I know.

My third goal is to pick up a hobby. I feel like I need to be doing something creative. Blogging is creative, however, I want to do other things like write a book or start a craft. These have been weighing on my heart heavy lately so I want try and start one or both this month. I love writing. There is something so therapeutic about writing for me… especially when I can write about whatever I want … that was the reason I started my blog in the first place. I want to take my writing to the next level though.

So there are 3 goals I have for the month of September. Are you setting any goals this month? Let me know in the comments below… as always you can follow me on all my social media platforms… simply click the icon under this post!! I love you all the most!!! Until next time ✌🏽✌🏽

My Amazon Favorites!

So as you all know this Quarantine will make you shop for anything that can be delivered to your door so you don’t have to leave your home. For me, I was at home out of work for over a month because I am a high risk for the Coronavirus. I spend my days sleeping at the beginning because I needed a mental break. Once I was rested I starting getting online and shopping. I have purchased some amazing things online that I can wait to share with you all. Everything that will be talking about today I will have a link available for. Making a purchase through the link is no additional cost to you but does help support my channel and allow me to continue to bring you amazing content.

If you know me personally, you know I love candles. I have candles in my bathroom, my bedroom and in my office. I have one of those long stem lighters you can get to light candles but they eventually will run out and you have to purchase a new one. I was on youtube one day and someone was mention they found a rechargeable lighter for their candles and I had to have it. It was reasonably priced and love it. The charge on it lasts pretty good I had it for about 2 weeks and it is still fully charged. Trust me if you love candles as I do then this is a great buy!

The next item that is one of my absolute favorites is my bookshelf. I dont us it as a book shelf i actually put in my office to hold all my hair and makeup. As n influencer, I am always getting products to test. Most of them come from me buying them but i do have some great companies that send me stuff to try out. I actually saw this shelf in Pastor Phineka Friends IG story. I sent her a message not even know the would respond to me. ( Make sure you are following her on Instagram!) She told me she got it off amazon and hopped right on and made the purchase. It came quickly and it was pretty easy to put together. It looks amazing in my office and I love how neat and organized I am able to hav everything now.

The next purchase I made was something that I received a sample from Influencer and I used it once and was hooked. This lotion smells so good. It is not greasy at all. I use this lotion all over.

Most of you all don’t know this, but i got my nose pierced in February. Had i known that the world was going to be under a pandemic i would have requested they pierced me with a gold stud because silver is not my color at all. I have been on the hunt for gold nose rings and was not sure about what type of nose ring would work better for me. I ordered 20 nose rings for $13.99. I also checked the website and there are still at this price. These had over 1,500 reviews and 4 1/2 Stars. I will be receiving these tomorrow so i will update you all on how I like them.

Lately, I have been obsessed with silicone phone cases. I think it’s the way that they feel in my hand. I found some really cute ones on Amazon that are 1. Affordable and 2. Super Cute. I got the teal and burgundy colors but my sister has a pale pink one and she loves hers as well.

If you have natural hair you know that Satin Pillow Cases are a MUST. I have switched out all the pillowcases in my bed for satin pillowcases. I have these in Light Grey and Orange. I got the orange ones because they matched the comforter I had at the time. I really recommend this brand they are great and have over 2,000 reviews.

So these are some of the amazing items that I have found on Amazon. I really don’t mean to make you spend money, I already know you all have been shopping none stop but you need to add these to your collection.

Make sure that your are following me on all social media platforms and Subscribe to my blog so you don’t miss anytime I upload. Love you all…..

Welcome Back…..

Hey #curlfriends!!!! I know I know, it’s been a while. There has been a lot going in 2019. Some good, some bad but all learning experiences. So I’m here to give ya’ll an update with these curls because I know that you’re all are dying to know what been going on with me.

No Heat Challenge…… Not so much

So going into 2019 I started a new No heat challenge. I was so excited to go all year with no heat. Then life happened. I honestly got tired of dealing with my hair. Curly hair is so much work. So in about April, I straightened my hair. It wasn’t all bad though letting my hair just be in a bun for a while actually turned out to be a good thing. My hair is as long as it ever been. Then in June, I straighten my hair again for my best friend’s wedding. I wasn’t going to at first. I was set on getting a sew-in, you know putting my hair away for a while. But time got away from me so at the last min I just whipped out my flat iron and went to work. Now that all that is over I’m back to not putting heat on my hair.

Color…

So my hair is still blonde. I’m honestly trying to decide what color I want to do next. I really miss my red hair. It was so bomb when I had it and whatever my stylist used lasted for months!! Unfortunately, she isn’t doing hair anymore so I gotta find a new hair color expert in the Richmond, VA area.

What Products am I using?

To be honest I haven’t tried a lot of new stuff this year. I mean if it’s not broke there’s no need to fix it right? I have a couple of reviews that ill be doing soon for some new products that I have used over the last month or so stay tuned!!!

I’m still alternating between my EcoSyle Gels and Wetline Xtreme. It really just depends on how I’m feeling that day. I love the results I get with both products.

What’s to come?

I’m so glad you asked. I have a couple of review coming up. I have a Deva Cut Review coming soon. My appointment is in two weeks. I also have a 20.00 wash day coming out. That will showcase some curly hair products that I found in Ross. Lastly ill be starting my YouTube channel before the end of the year.  So stay tuned family!!! I’ll have some amazing stuff coming your way soon!!!

3 Goals I have for 2019

So we are 10 days into the new year. 2018 is a thing of the past and I have been in heavy reflection. That’s honestly why i have posted my usual 2 posts a week. I really wanted to plan out some things for where i want this blog to go. Plus I have a life when I’m not behind this keyboard clicking away. I promise I do. In my time of reflection I came up with 3 goals that I want to achieve this year.

Start My Youtube Channel

Let me be honest with you, I have had my YouTube channel for almost 8 years. YouTube was something that I have always loved the idea of but its a lot of work. I had to learn how to edit videos, record content without making myself look crazy, the whole nine. I have a couple of videos that are uploaded but they don’t have a lot of views. Most of the videos are Periscope videos I recorded and they backed up to my channel. I am planning to go through them and remove the ones that I did not really talk about anything on. I am also going to go through and rename some of them so that they are more searchable. I do want to eventually get me a camera but until then ill be using this good iPhone and a ring light.

Create Multiple Streams of Income

So at the end of last year, I lost my job. To be honest I wasn’t upset because it was probably one of the worse jobs I’ve had. Not the actual job itself, just everything that came with the job: the management, the people, the environment. I was not a fan. Even though I was searching for a new job I really planned on working this one until I found another one, but God had other plans. This experience had reminded me how important it is for me to have multiple streams of income. I can honestly say that God has provided in these last couple of weeks. Like he really looked out but I need to get on the game….. There’s work to be done. Im trying to secure as many bags as possible all 2019!!

Improve My Time Management Skills

In my reflection I realized that I am a procrastinator. I am always putting things off til the last minuet, which is something that i need to work on like yesterday. In order to accomplish this I am going to use my calendar more. I also brought a planner which I will be putting to use ASAP. Since I am a visual learner I have color coded things on my calendar by importance. I really just need to stay motivated and stick to my schedule and I’ll be able to be more productive this year.

What are some goals that you have for 2019? Let me know in the comments. I appreciate y’all so much. Make sure that you like, comment, and subscribe. Ill talk to ya’ll in my next post….. Be Blessed

Wet Line X-treme Gel

Ok! So as promised I was finally able to get my hands on the Wet Line Xtreme Gel to review for you all. I’m not going to lie to you, it wasn’t easy. Most places were sold out! Luckily my local Wal-Mart had one remaining on the shelf that I snatched up. After seeing so many YouTube influencers raving about it, I was really curious to see how it would hold up in my hair.

Application

So if you read any of my other wash and go reviews you already know that I like to apply my products on dripping wet hair. I had a event at my church that I wanted my hair to be fresh for so I really trying to take my time and get this wash and go as popping as possible. I almost wanted to use my ECO Style gel because I kind of knew how that would come out. you can read the review I need on the newest Eco Style Gel ( Cannabis and Sativa Oil) to see how I felt about that one. I started applying the Wet Line Xtreme with the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie and the 2 products were not mixing at all. I was like “Nope!!” I’m going to have to do use something else. I ended up changing my leave in to the Camilla Rose Naturals Coconut Water Leave in Treatment. Camilla Rose worked a lot better but I’m interested to see what other leave in are good with this gel.

What I Loved

What I loved most about this gel was the price!! I got this gel for about $3.00 at Walmart. I was going to purchase it from Amazon but it was out of stock at the time. The had a 2 pack available for like 5.00 but I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it so I didn’t want to purchase two of them. Another thing that I really loved about the Wet Line X-treme gel is how it weighs my hair down. Any time a gel weighs my hair down I know my curls are going to pop. After my hair dried I liked how stretched my hair ended up being. I didn’t get as much strinkage as I normally do with a Eco Style Gel.

What I Hated

So to be honest there really wasn’t a lot that I hated about this gel overall. I will say that after drying my hair it was X-tremely hard ( Lol). Really though I was nervous that my hair was going to break off. A lot people said that it was due to the protein in the gel but I’m not protein sensitive. My high porosity hair will take as much protein as she can get. Another thing that I really was not a fan of was my hair flaking after about day 3. I’m not entirely sure if the flaking was due to the leaving that I used or the actual gel its self so I will be trying this gel out again just to make sure, The Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie is probably to blame though. It could also be that I used too much product. I know that I can be a little heavy handed.

Final Thoughts

So my final thoughts on the gel is that it was overall pretty good. I really enjoyed my wash and go overall and I will get trying it again. I think I just have to find a leave in that works well in my hair and with the Wet Line X-treme gel and then I will be successful. I am also going to try the gel again without a leave in as I did wit the Eco Style to see if that make a difference. I really hope that you enjoy these reviews and if there is a product you would like to me to try out make sure to comment below or shoot me an Email. Also make sure you are following me on all social media playforms so that you never miss post.
